In this article, I am going to try to foresee the future of SEO techniques. This information is only based on assumption and is not based on any inside news.
SEO started a few years ago with Meta optimization. Everyone would be talking about optimizing every Meta tags, inserting keywords, etc...
Today some are saying that Meta are not so important. When surfing the net, I often look at the source code of a website. I do that for many purposes but mainly just to see if there is a change in trends.
75% of the website I visit don't have oor have limited SEO. Most of the time, Meta are not optimized or almost non-existent.So, should you plan on using SEO for your website? Yes, I believe so. The optimization provides information about the description of your business/website and the keywords will still be used with most search engines.
The big question is whether search engines companies will continue to use Meta tags as a reference for relevancy coupled with the content of the website or if they will switch to other techniques.
Many are saying that Google is not so much about Meta and therefore many web designers/SEO pros are not focusing on that.
So what is lying ahead of us? Make no mistake, content is and will keep its position as No1 in the list of importance when it comes to optimization. I believe in content as I believe in relevancy. Only the content will lead to relevancy. many of us complain about how irrelevant some search results are, but is it search engines which are irrelevant or is it us who are not relevant in our search?
The ingredients to a good SEO strategy lies within many sub techniques. Content is one, Meta optimization is an other one. In the future, I do believe that search engines will continue to rely on those and other factors but the basics are there. Content is all SEO is about and with a good content, true to its purpose, you will start ranking well with any search engines for specific keywords. Now, iff you want to rank well for the keyword 'website design' which returns over 600 million results, well.... take your time and be patient. |
