Search Engine Optimization or how to be seen before everyone else. Lately I was running some searches and used Google and Yahoo for that matter. The keyword was 'logo contest'. With Google I did not find any relevant results on the first page while I found a relevant result with Yahoo on the first line. Then I tried an other keyword 'logo design contest' and the results were relevant with Google but not as much with Yahoo.When I read all this information about SEO, techniques and how to have a relevant website to have it ranked at the very top, I found difficult to decide whether I should really spend hours and hours to try to reach that goal when I find so many irrelevant search results using Google or Yahoo. Have you ever found yourself browsing page after page of a search result to finally maybe find your treasure? How many times do you have a good relevant website and you find others at the top of the search result pages and those others have nothing to do with the relevancy of your search! When I prepare report for my clients or run searches, I often come across so many discrepancies that I really wonder what Google, Yahoo and MSN are doing. But mindless those discrepancies, it is still important that each client focus on their online business as if it was a brick and mortar business. The only difference is how fast the information travels online, how many people you can access in a matter of minutes and to be prepared to answer requests from clients quickly or you may lose your clients. But whether it is online or brick and mortar, anyone will always have to market his/her business, keep the information accessible, update all pertinent information, think about their online store as any brick and mortar business (with some differences).
