SEO or Search Engine Optimization is today's favorite subject in everyone's discussion.
When you hear about SEO you automatically think about being at the top of a result page with Google, Yahoo and MSN. It is not that easy.SEO stands for the optimization of your website to make it more accessible and readable by search engines 'spiders'. Those spiders (think web) are small piece of codes that surf the www and collect a large amount of information. It crawls a website and from there goes to an other one.
So why is it so important for you to have your website 'optimized' for those little 'guys'?
Those spiders (also called bots) will provide the information that search engines are using to return results based on keywords.
This is why it is important that your website be well rounded and offer easy navigation. Optimizing your website will include optimizing its content, having the right keywords that relate to your business, be user friendly, adding 'tags' to images (a spider cannot read an image, so we add a small piece of text to it), adding META TAGS which are a complete set of information just for search engines purpose and include, but not limited to, a description of the business/website and keywords.
SEO can be categorized in two sub-categories: Organic (or natural) and PPC.
Organic means that you optimize your website, submit to search engines and directories, exchange links with others.
PPC stands for Pay-per-Click. Straightforward, this solution will be up in 15 minutes, bring leads immediately but will cost you between $0.10 and >$5.00 per click meaning that everytime someone searching for a specific keyword sees your ad and click on it, you will pay.
There are several strategies that can be put in place and that is where we come into play.
